- I want to get more land. But how? Aha! I have an idea, let me call my good friend, John Slidell. He speaks Spanish, and he can try and persuade Mexico to sell us these states!
- John Slidell goes to the Mexican border. There, they don't even allow him to come in! Polk must find a different way.
- John?! oh John! I have an assignment for you!
- Back at the White House, President James K. Polk wanted more land for the United States. He wanted to bring New Mexico and California into the union while extending Texas' borders until the Rio Grande, a large river that was located in Mexico.

- In the meantime, Polk also sends an exploration party to California, and Mexico decides to do something about the constant violations. Mexico decides to send their troops to the Rio Grande, and successfully kill 9 US soldiers.
- With his mission failed, Polk asks General Zachary Taylor to send his soldiers to the Rio Grande to block the river. Mexico soldiers realize and get furious.

- Hello Congress, I have a request for America to go to war with Mexico. As they killed our soldiers, this is a first strike occurred by them. I humbly ask you to talk amongst yourselves and decide what is best.
- After voting, the House came to a majority vote of going to war with Mexico.
