- One of the components of map are directions.Distance between two points on a map maybe measured in cm using a scale.A map can be drawn to many different scales depending on its purpose.Two types of scales are small scale maps and large scale maps.Small scale maps represent large areas of the map and large scale maps cover a small area of earth.

- The symbols of a map are especially used in large-scale maps,With the help of conventional signs and symbols.These signs and symbols are usually small pictures of the object.
