(Athena had Odysseus disguised as an old man in rags for his return to Ithica. Penelope happened to be holding a difficult challenge for the suitors involving Odysseus's bow, for her hand in marriage) After completing Penelope's challenge, Odysseus turned to Antinuous and aimed an arrow at him. This was the beginning of Odysseus's revenge for the years of disrespect from the suitors.
Revenge is Won
After killing Antinuous, Odysseus revealed who he really was. After trying to beg for forgiveness, the suitors knew they would not receive mercy. So with Eurymachus as their leader, the suitors charged Odysseus.
Return to Penelope
Don't you miss me?
I've been tricked before; you'll have a place to stay for now
With the help of Telemachus, Odysseus's son, and two other loyal men, Odysseus fought the suitors.
Reunited at Last
YOU CAN'T MOVE MY BED! I would know, I built it off of a tree trunk inside the foundation!
Though Odysseus and the other men were holding off the suitors pretty well, Athena decided to sweep in near the end and help slaughter them. At the end of the fight, the room was full of blood.
Athena made Odysseus revert to his old appearance but made him extra handsome to see Penelope. Penelope did not show much emotion towards him, and Odysseus was confused by this. This was because men in the past tried to deceive Penelope. Penelope tested him by telling a maid to move the bed from the bedroom, even though it couldn't be moved because of how it was built.
Maid, prepare the bed for him, but move it outside the main bedroom
Odysseus reacted in anger because he knew the bed could not be moved, for he built it. Penelope recognizing this runs to the man she remembered to be Odysseus. They were together at last.
