- Our school had an odd assortment of boys but the oddest boy was Bodh raj,He was a callous and vindictive boy and everyone was afraid of him
- After my father got a promotion in his job we moved into an old-styled bunglow in the outskirts of the city.
- Though comfortable my friends seldom came to visit me, the only exception was Bodh raj , as he found the area to be a good hunting ground
- My mother did not approve of my friendship with Bodh raj, but she realized that I was lonely and needed company and one day :
- But you said, that it was cruel to destroy nests.
- I didn`t suggest he kill the birds,he can simply remove the nests without harming them.
- If your friend is so fond of destroying nests,tell him to clean our storeroom.The birds have made it very filthy.
- The next time bodh raj came I took him to the godown.It was dark and smelly and when he saw the birds he exclaimed that they were ganga mynahs.
- Bodh raj lifted the catapult and tried to hit the nest 3 times, but it didn`t work. As he lifted it up again the shadow of a large kite with it`s wings outstretched blocked the light.
- When we got out I was sure he is going to put the birds in his pocket as usual but instead he asked for water as the chicks were thirsty ,and the next day as he came he had neither a catapult nor pebbles but instead a bag of seeds.
- I told him not to hit the kite as it might attack us but he paid no attention,the pebble missed the kite and hit the ceiling. Then suddenly he gave me the catapult and told me to aim at the kite and go on trying to hit it.
- He then went and gently and took the mynah`s nest after which he told me `Lets get out of here`
