- A woman named Dix accepted a job at a jail to teach Sunday school, when she was there she saw the horrible conditions of the mentally ill, chained and abused, she went to the newspapers and eventually convinced people to make a mentally ill hospital, Dix died while trying to get her idea a reality but it did end up happening
