  • Welcome. Today, our main focus is on the use of money in the form of coins.
  • GRADE 2
  • 'COOL COOKIE MATH' Learning about coins.
  • Coins make a very important part of money. What are the different denominations of US coins do we have?
  • We have 1¢, 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, 50¢, and $1.00.
  • You' ve done a great job thus far. So how else can we call those coins that are smaller than a dollar?
  • 1¢ is called penny, 5¢ is called a nickel, 10¢ is a dime, 25¢ is a quarter and 50¢ is a half dollar.
  • Please watch this video on the use of coins.
  • Ok, now you are going to be provided with coins of different denominations so that you can learn more about using them.
  • Here is a dollar to each of you in the form of 2 quarters, 2 dimes, 4 nickels and 10 pennies.
  • KNOW YOUR COINS AND HOW TO USE THEM.
  • Use your TABLETS and play the game to learn more about using coins. Then complete the worksheets.
  • Now I need each of you to show me 15¢ from the coins that you have been provided in order to get a cookie.
