  • Finally, speciation is a change in the body of the animal, when there is a geographical isolation or a behavioral isolation. For example let's say there are lizards in the desert and there's a river that appears and separates them. Some of them will continue evolving without the others and they will change and adapt themselves to their new environment with mechanisms like natural selection.
  • I hope you all have understood. I know that can be a little bit tricky. Just to be sure, there are 4 major forces of evolution that can be the result of multiple factors. The sources of variations can be mutations in our DNA, recombination, crossing over or the independence in a population. Following the arrival of these factors, they are agents of modification that changes the way we look. These agents obviously depend on the type of source of variation. So, natural selection, genetic drift, mutation and speciation can result. That phenomenon can either be an advantage or disadvantage. Mutation and Speciation improve biodiversity whereas natural selection and speciation reduce it.

  • Oh my goddess! I didn’t think it was that convoluted.
  • So, does it mean that we were just the same at the beginning ?
