- The British won the French and Indian War, gaining land in North America.To avoid more war they made The Proclamation saying the colonist were not allowed to go West of the Appalachian Mts.

- Due to Britain paying for the French and Indian War, they became in debt. Believing the colonist needed to pay them back. Britain came up with the Stamp Act. Colonist had to buy stamps for papers, legal documents,newspapers and more.

- To consolidate fiscal and political power over the Colonist, Britain passed a series of laws thru the Townshend Act. One being The British troops were able to live in your house and use your supplies,
- The Intolerable Acts of 1774

- Colonist harassed the British Soldiers that were staying there, throwing snowballs and stones. Turning into a big fight. Causing 5 people killed by the British.
- The colonist were frustrated and angry over the Tea Act which allows Britain to tax the tea. They boarded the ship in protest, dressed as Indians and tossed 342 chests of tea overboard.

- The King of Britain was not happy at all with all the tea going overboard. He closed docks, sent more soldiers. He came up with this act as punishment to the colonist.
