- Many years ago , a statue of a prince stood in the center of a small town encrusted with gold and gemstones .
- THE HAPPY PRINCE
- At the same time , a pigeon on his way south stopped to rest on the statue because it was close to nightfall and he was tired and sleepy .
- The pigeon , in the middle of the night , witnessed the prince crying .
- And the pigeon agreed without hesitation .

- For the next few days , the pigeon remained at the prince request and continued to assist others .
