Storyboard Text
- The Boston Massacre began the evening of March 5, 1770 with a small argument between the British soldier, Hugh White, and a few other colonists outside the Custom House in Boston on King Street.
- More colonists began to arrive at the scene. The argument escalated as the colonists began throwing sticks and snowballs at the British soldier.
- OWWW!!
- There were a lot of colonists so the British officer, Captain Preston, sent some soldiers over to the scene. The sight of armed British soldiers at the scene just made the colonists more angry. They began to shout at the soldiers daring them to fire.
- We're not scared of you!
- I dare you to fire your gun at us.
- An object that was thrown by the angry mob hit one of the soldiers. Out of panic he shot his musket and the other soldiers thinking they heard the command to shoot began firing.
- Five people ended up getting killed that day. Three were killed on the spot, Crispus Attucks, Samuel Gray, and James Caldwell. Eight were badly wounded and two of them died later, Samuel Maverick and Patrick Carr.
