The winter at Valley Forge was very harsh especially due to the lack of supplies and housing.since they didn't have much of a choice for them to stay George Washington's army marched on into their winter quarters.Then the arrival of Baron Frederick Wilhelm von Steuben help Georges army prepare for battle.

the soldiers living quarter were similar to Washington quarters they were made of logs.the log huts took about a week.this was cutting time for the winter because there was so many soldiers.
Training with Baron Fredrick von Steuben
some of the problems that the soldiers had were the lack of food and the supplies to stay healthy.since there was a lack of food the had to make fire cake which is a mixture of water and flour.as the supplies were low some got ill in the cold and brisk winter.
some more of the problems that they faced were the lack of clothes that they had.since most of the soldiers were missing shoes it made it hard getting warm very hard in winter.Then Washington sent a solider to get food and some cattle for the men.
training with von Steuben was hard because he didn't speak English so he had to get an enterpiter for the drills he had planed.Before the drills von Steuben had to design a training program for the army to train on.and while training the army had to learn the basics of being a solider in the army.
