My family is already starving...The world is a cruel place
Here is the start of the Great Famine, in 1845, the Irish have run out of food for the winter. This was caused by a fungus growth in potatoes, turning them inedible. As Ireland had a large dependency on potatoes in this time, most starved to death without them. The most desperate resort to extreme measures, even cannibalism. Deaths skyrocket as the harsh winter inflicts terror into the very hearts of the Irish.
Looks like there isn't any food for Christmas, boys!
Hundreds of thousands have perished since the start of the Great Potato Famine. Bodies lay everywhere, rotting in forests, floating in lakes. It is a gruesome sight.
While the poor helplessly starve to death, most of the rich and wealthy live lavish lifestyles, and not even having hunger or thirst. This injustice was very normal back then, nobles and the higher class generally having a much better life than peasants and such.
My goodness! The forest looks so much better during winter!
Indeed it does!
