The Menstrual Cycle is the monthly series of changes a woman's body through in preparation for the possibility of pregnancy. Every month, one of the ovaries releases an egg. This process is called ovulation. The menstrual cycle is controlled by hormones. A hormone is a chemical messenger that is produced by a gland to affect a target organ.

The Menstrual Cycle begins with Menstruation. During this time, the uterus breakdown. Which causes bleeding. This process normally takes place from Day 1 to Day 4.
Day 1 - 4
The next stage normally takes place from Day 5 to Day 14. During this stage, the uterus lining starts to build up again. It becomes a thick spongey layer with lots of blood vessels in it. Its function is to prepare the uterus lining for the fertilized egg.
Day 4 - 14
The next stage is called Ovulation. This takes place in a single day. Ovulation is when an egg gets released from one of the Ovaries. This process takes place normally on Day 14.
Day 14
The next stage stretches all the way from Day 14 to Day 28. During this process, the lining of the uterus is maintained. The egg will also be disintegrated if it is not fertilized.

Day 28 - 1
If there is no fertilized egg, The last stage takes place on Day 28. During this stage, the uterus wall breaks down. After this, the cycle would continue by repeating itself from Day 1.
