- Scout showed immaturity when she fought Cecil Jacobs because he said that her father defends n-word.
- "n-word lover"
- Scout learned when Atticus told her about the trial and how they will receive hate. He also asked her if she can stop fighting.
- "Try fighting with your head for a change . . . it’s a good one, even if it does resist learning."
- Scout showed growth when Cecil told her what his parents think of Atticus and she remembered her father's words and chose to walk away.
- "You ain't fair"
- Scout show immaturity again by punching Francis when he insulted Atticus by calling him names. She split her knuckle on his tooth.
- Scout learned when Atticus told her to start changing the way she fights. To use her head instead of physically fighting.
- Scout showed her growth by explaining to Uncle Jack why she hit him as well as giving him a lesson about children.
