Steve Harmon is a young man at the age of 16. He has short, black hair and brown eyes.
You, the jury should not judge Steve. He is innocent until proven guilty.
I (Kathy O'Brien) am driving to the the courtroom to defend Steve Harmon.
Memories of my brother, Chris.
Hello, my name is Jose Delgado and I am a clerk at the drugstore that was robbed. When I came back to the store I saw Mr. Nesbitt dead, the register open and cigarette packs missing.
Chris got arrested for a crime he didn't have anything to do with. This made me want to be a defense attorney.
I pulled up to the courtroom.
I got some information about the hold up from James. I was sold two cartons of cigarettes for five dollars each.
When I walked into the courtroom I saw Steve (left) exactly as he was explained to me on the phone last week.
After the robbery, James and I went out for dinner.
I am happy that Steve is innocent. Throughout the trial I wasn't confident that this would be the outcome.
I talked with Steve and he seemed like a nice kid but I don't know if he's innocent or not. I have to defend him either way.
Later on, when I gave my opening statement, I reminded the jury that everyone deserves a fair case. Also, I stated that the evidence is flawed.
On the other hand, Ms. Petrocelli tried to convince the jury that James King, Richard Evans, Steve and Osvaldo are guilty. Then, Asa Briggs made it clear that all of Petrocelli's witnesses are self serving criminals.
This was no suicide, James King murdered Mr. Nesbitt. With the help of "Bobo" Evans, Steve Harmon and Osvaldo Cruz.
Jose is a clerk at Mr. Nesbitt's drugstore. He also has a black belt in Martial Arts. Every time I look over at Steve he is writing in a journal, it seems like he is making a movie script.
Later on in the trial, Salvatore Zinzi spoke. He was sent to Riker's island for having stolen property. While he was there, Wendell Bolden told him about the hold up. Zinzi used this information to get out of prison early.
I got two packs of cigarettes off of one of the guys that held up the drugstore.
Wendell Bolden has been arrested for breaking and entering. Also, possession with intent. Then, detective Karyl says she wants Steve to get the death penalty, but detective Williams doesn't. Detective Karyl called the emergency medical service at the crime scene.
The fourteen year old Osvaldo Cruz spoke too. His role in the crime was to stop anyone who was trying to stop James and Bobo. Then, Bobo Evans spoke, he is 22 and is currently arrested for selling drugs. He says that himself and James started a fight with Mr. Nesbitt and he started shooting.
Bobo Evans
Finally, Steve went up to speak and he didn't say much. He said he was overwhelmed by the case. After, Mr. Sawicki said that Steve is a talented, bright and a compassionate young man. After the closing statements, Steve was innocent.
Was I a part of the crime? No I was not.
That night when I got home, I thought about the trial. I felt so relieved. Once in a while, I go visit Steve and he has now become a successful film writer.
