Introduction
Class did you see the Olympics, I know you all can't miss it. Let us play a short game. Olympics are a series of international athletic competitions held once in every 4 years.There are many athletic sports held and new sports are added almost every year!
The Two Sports
Today we will disscuss about 2 sports of the olympics.We will be disscussing about cycling and swimming. It will be easy for you to understand as every year our school has an annual sports day where such events take place
We all remember that long song, good morning teacher, and thankyou teacher. Relating to that here is a short greeting by a P.E. Teacher to his students.
Swimming- an adventurous water sport
As we all know, Swimming is a water sport. We have to move our hands and leg to move forward and win the race.Some of the rules of swimming are- Swimmers are not allowed to swim on their back at any point during the race. Both arms must be moved forward simultaneously and both legs must be kicked together in a downward motion. All swimmers musttouch the wall at each turn and the conclusion of the race with both hands. Some Athletes who took pat in swimming are Sajan Prakash, Srihari Natraj and Maana Patel.
The Olympics are leading international sporting events featuring summer and winter sports competitions in which thousands of athletes from around the world participate in a variety of competitions. The Olympic Games are normally held every four years, alternating between the Summer and Winter Olympics every two years in the four-year period.
Cycling- Paddle, Paddle and Paddle!!
Cycling is a sport in which all the bikers/ participants have to bike a certain distnace.The faster the better. Different countries earn different number of rider spots. It is decided by the following way.The 21 highest-ranked nations in the UCI qualification ranking are able to compete in the Olympics, with the top-two teams earning three rider spots, while the third to seventh-place ranked nations get two riders, and the eighth to 21st ranked being allowed just one rider.
Students are excited to know more about both the sports.

So class, we will end our session as well as disscussion here. I hope you enjoyed, the next class we will summarise what I taught today through a video and I will divide the class into 6 groups and all of you will prepare a speech on any one athlete and will divide it among yourselves to speak in front of class
Some needs for qualifying in the Swimming Olympics are- Athletes must have been born before 1 January 2006 (that, be at least 16 years old at the end of 2021) to compete. Youth athletes (born in 2004 or 2005, age 16 or 17 at the end of 2021) cannot compete in the throwing events, combined events, marathons, race walks, or 10,000 metre events.
Races shall be run over: - 4 km for Men - 3 km for Women - 3 km for Junior Men - 2 km for Junior Women. Some athletes who took part this year are Jankidas Mehra, Jason Keny, and Laura Kenny Two cyclists compete in a fixed distance. The riders start on opposite sides of the track. The winner is determined by either catching the other rider or recording the fastest time.
Then rings the bell to signify the break and all students greet the teacher. As soon as he leaves students start disscussing about their opinion on olympics.
