  • Slide: 1
  • Elijah calls his parents when he gets to the police station. Additionally they take his mugshot and fingerprints and enter it into the system for the case.
  • Your son is being released into your custody. His court hearing is tomorrow and you will need to bring him in, They will decide when the trial takes place.
  • Yes officer, we understand completely. If his case is taken to trial, will he be tried as an adult? and will there be a jury?
  • He will be tried in the a different court according to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, which deals with offenses of minors and there is no jury for cases involving minors.

  • Liam Anderson the defendant has plead guilty to the charges laid against him. He will be taking the plea deal offered to him since it is his first offense.
  • The plea deal and sentence for the illegal possession and distribution of weed is 6 months of prison and $1,000 fine along with 120 hours of community service
  • Slide: 3
  • Elijah Simons the accused has plead guilty to the charges and he will be given a sentence today.
  • Since he is a minor and a first time offender his sentence is less severe. He will have to pay a $250 fine, 100 hours of community service and he will be on probation for 1 year.

  • So, I cannot go back to my high school?
  • You now have to go to Hadfield High School since you got suspended for selling weed to students at your old school.
  • Yes, I know mom, I'm very sorry, I wasn't thinking.
  • The next day after Elijah's sentencing. He is at home due to probation.

  • A week later after the court hearing, Liam pleads guilty and skips the trial. He will now be sentenced for the crimes
  • Doing all that illegal selling was bad. I only wanted money but now I have 2 more months of jail time. Not to mention this will be on my prison record forever.
  • 4 months after the sentencing Liam is in Jail.

  • Elijah is taken to a Youth Justice Criminal Court. The judge listened to family and records in order to find an appropriate sentence for Elijah that will hold him accountable but not very severe.
  • I should have never sold drugs. Now I have so much of community service hours to do and I don't like probation. I miss my freedom. At least I got to to finish High school. I wonder how Liam is doing in jail. He will be out in some time but it's been a long time.
  • 4 months later for Elijah, he graduates Highschool and turns 18. He continues his community service hours and is on probation.
