I'm voting for president so that I have a say in who runs my country!
Limited Government
I use my checks and balances as a Supreme Court Justice to make sure no branch has ultimate power!
The 5 Principles of Government are the foundation of our Constitution and Country.
Rule of Law
The consent of the governed is the idea that we give the government authority and in return, they protect our rights! We do this by voting for who we want in office.
Democracy
The government cannot be all powerful, and we prevent an all powerful government by having separation of powers with 3 branches of government.
Representative Democracy
In the rule of law, no one is above the law, regardless of their financial status or their power in government. For example, if a mayor of a town runs a red light, they face the consequences of doing so like any other citizen.
Even though I am the mayor of my town, I have to stop at stop lights to make sure I obey the law! If I don't I will get a ticket like you would as a citizen!
In a democracy, the people have the power to vote for which laws, rules, and regulations they want in their government. In a democracy, the people have the power.
We have the power to vote on laws and regulations. We as the people have the power in America!
In a representative democracy, people elect official representatives to help make decisions and create laws. The representatives make these laws on the behalf of their constituents. We do this by voting for and electing presidents, congress people, and mayors.
You elect me as President to be your representative. I help create laws and enforce them for the greater good of the country!
