- Prospero asks his spirit servant Ariel to describe the affect the storm he created had on the passengers of the ship while Miranda sleeps in the background.
- Caliban hides under his cloak because he believes that Prospero has sent spirits to torment him. Due to the storm brewing, Trinculo decides to also take shelter under the cloak despite the horrid smell. Stephano stumbles across the pair, very drunk, and thinks that they are a monster with four legs and two mouths.
- Ferdinand is piling logs at Prospero's request. He carries out this task with the hope of seeing Miranda again. Maranda interrupts, hoping that he will speak to her. Prospero watches the exchange, hidden, and is delighted that they have fallen in love.
