- Hi! Are you Ellie Wiesel?
- Yes I am and you are?...
- I am Art Spigelman I wrote the graphic novel ¨Maus I¨
- Ahhh yes Artie. I never really got to your book could you tell me a little about it?
- Sounds very similar to mines. Except it was only me left and my book consisted of perseverance but also identity.
- Well my book was about the Holocaust as you know of already. It consisted a lot about perseverance and family ties. My Dad as known as Vladek he always made sure he kept his family safe and even when he lost lots of family he and my Mom (Anja) kept going.
- Well what do you mean identity? Your still Ellie Wiesel.
- Well of course I mean me going through the Holocaust at such a young age changed alot about me. Like lying about my age and the starvation and beating causing me to not even look like myself anymore.
- Hmm well my story is a tad bit different. Luckily i wasn't born when the Holocaust was big but I did have a little brother who died from poison. I also lost my mom due to suicide.... it took a big toll.
- Has the Holocaust affected you ? Even with you not actually experiencing it?
- Well yea I never got to be with my mother and i dont have much memory of her... But nice talk it was nice to speak to someone I can relate to.
- Yea of course. Until again Artie.
