- Mansa Musa and Thousands of his people trek across the Sahara Desert to the holy land, carrying incredible amounts of gold with them. Each camel and horse carrying 300 pounds of it, along with the over 10 thousand slaves carrying as well. This Pilgrimage is what made Mansa Musa famous in his lifetime and in ours.

- With the many thousands of pounds of gold they brought (Records say 300 pounds of gold per horse and camel), they threw it out to the people they passed by and he built mosques along the way in the cities they passed through.
- Word spread of Mansa Musa's generosity and riches spread quickly through African people, and soon after people heard from all across the world, due to trade with African people.
- Once Mansa Musa's fame spread throughout the world, people became intrigued with the Mali empire and traveled there to Timbuktu.
- We heard the Great Mansa Musa gave away gold to people!
- Timbuktu was a central for education, trade, riches, the arts, and people. So all people of the world traveled there and shared ideas, all because Mansa Musa's incredible riches.
- We heard this city is one of the richest in the world!
