Back in the 1950's, there was school segregation meaning that colored kids were separated from white kids. The white kids had nice classrooms, good books, as well as nice furniture and other materials. They also had a nice education with amazing teachers.
The black or colored kids were not as lucky as they had low quality classrooms with less funding. They were overcrowded and had too many students compared to teachers. They had less materials and they were hand me downs from the white schools.
This is not fair.
I wish we had books that aren't used or in bad condition, if only I could go to a white school. There we would have proper chairs and better learning
2) I will go and talk to the principle of the white school to see if you can start going there.
Then in 1954, a black African American girl named Linda Brown from Topeka, Kansas asked to apply to an all white school. She wanted to go to the sumner school and her dad agreed to try to enroll her.
1)Dad, My education is horrible compared to those in the white schools. I am barely learning anything and we are so behind. I feel so inferior to them. Can I please go to a white school?
