Storyboard Text

  • We don't have anything like that but we do have some other laws that we have to follow. Halal is food and actions that are permitted in Islam and haram is food and actions that are forbidden. We do not eat pork because pigs are dirty animals. We also don’t drink alcohol because it puts people into an unconscious state of mind.
  • How fascinating! Well Anya, I think it's time for me to go. My mom wants me home before dark. Thank you so much for having me over and teaching me about Hinduism! I learned so many things today.
  • In Hinduism we have something similar except we don't eat cows instead of pork. This is because cows are sacred and are not to be eaten. They symbolize life and the sub-human world.
  • Definitely!
  • Thank you for talking about Islam with me, I had a lot of fun. You should come over again so we can talk more!
  • The End!
  • See you tomorrow!
  • Bye Omar, see you at school tomorrow!

  • Studying religion’s across the world is important for everyone but especially children. They are the future of our world and need to grow up with an unbiased and welcoming mindset for everyone. Through these teachings we can come together as a whole with happiness, love, and acceptance. Christianity is an accepting religion that rejects the idea of discrimination so we believe that enforcing the teachings of other religions is very crucial for everyone. It draws out any common misconceptions and prejudices in the past that are still lingering. It is also important to come to the realization that no matter ones beliefs, everyone is human and deserves the rights of freedom, speech, and life. I hope that in the future to come, humanity will be more inclusive and welcoming of all.

  • World religions is an amazing study that I learned so many different topics through. Catholicism was the only religion I was highly educated on before this class. I have found myself to have different perspectives on issues that I had not known much about before. It set me up with a greater understanding of religions other than my own and can be very positively beneficial in the future where I may be encountered in religious situations and conversations. I have also found myself with many of the same beliefs as some other religions such as Reform Judaism. I believe that their beliefs and my beliefs match up perfectly in many aspects which is important to personally know for myself. Discussing common prejudices and misconceptions among the many religions is important not only for myself but also for my classmates because we got to view the biased and unbiased sides. Overall, I am so thankful to have been involved in a great course that changed my life on religious views.
