Storyboard Text

  • The British impressed sailors and made them work for their armies. This was taking away the United States citizens' rights, and interfering with trade. James Madison agreed to make a deal for the U.S. to stop trading with their enemy, but the British still would kidnap sailors. James Madison didn't want to go to war with Britain, even because of this, since he knew the British would leave a blockade by the U.S. ports.
  • This is unfair! Let go of me!
  • You now have to work for the British and fight for us.
  • The United States and the Native Americans fought often for land. Great Britain started to give the Natives weapons to fight, so the United States was angry at Britain, because we weren't allowed to trade with France because they considered that as supplying their enemy. The British supplied the Native Americans with weapons knowing we were fighting with them, even when they wouldn't let us trade with their enemy.
  • Thank you!
  • Here are some weapons to fight off America. I know you guys are competing for land!
  • Warhawks were people that lived in the west that were pushing for war against Great Britain, and believed that our army should invade Canada and take control of it. They also believed that we should go to war with Britain, because they were interfering with trade by not letting us trade with their enemy, but Britain was trading with our enemy.
  • Yes, and then we should seize Canada and take control of it!
  • We need to go to war with Great Britain! This is getting out of hand! They won't let us trade with France!
