- Alex is the new employee of Suntra Company. Suntra Company is an international company. This was the first day of his work. He well dressed for his new job. He felt nervous because he couldn’t communicate with other people with english in a fluent way.
- Body Language
- Alex was requested to complete a meeting minutes on his first day of work . So, Alex burnt the midnight oil to finish it. During the process of finishing the minutes, he faced a lot of problems, he couldn’understand his supervisor’s instructions. In between, he realized his colleagues have completed their work in an efficiency way. This made Alex is not confident on his work . In the next morning, his supervisor (Jamie) was not satisfied with his work because it did not fulfill his requirements.
- Selective perception
- Jamie scolded Alex because he found out that Alex didn’t complete the work accurately and followed the requirement. Alex felt upset and he had tried to understand when Jamie communicated with him. However, Jamie was talking too fast in a fluency english. This caused Alex didn’t catch up the important point.
- Conclusion
- Besides that ,Alex didn’t respect to Jamie . When Jamie talked to him, Alex was not listening to him and just sat on the chair. Alex’s body language was not respecting to Jamie and did not admit that he was wrong. Also, Alex yawned in front of Jamie . Thus, Jamie was really up in arms after he saw that Alex did those emotions to him .
- Jamie instructed Alex to finish up his work by today but Alex refused to do that . It was because Alex wanted to attend gathering that night. Alex asked Jamie to find someone to take over his work. Jamie asked Alex to put more effort and responsibility to his work . Alex answered Jamie perfunctorily and said he didn’t care about it.
- After a few months, Alex had left the company because he has faced a lot of communication barriers with Jamie .In the storyboard, the communication barriers are language barrier, information overload, body language and selective perceptions. Hence, communication barriers will bring a lot of disadvantages. In an organization ,there might be a lot of communication barriers, thus we must avoid those problems from happening.
