  • Breaking up the Beluga'sBy: Sevilla Kinney
  • Here is a pod of beluga whales swimming around in the arctic ocean. They are all the exact same species.
  • A pod of beluga whales are swimming around their home which is in the cold Arctic Ocean.
  • So glad we're together as a group!
  • Agreed!
  • One night a big storm hits the arctic and brings lots of ice and glaciers from Greenland.
  • Why is it colder than usual...?
  • The next morning the beluga's swim to the surface to see a huge glacier separating them from the other beluga's. There is also a strong currant surrounding the glacier that prevent the whales from joining up.
  • Is anyone out there?
  • Where did everyone go?!
  • Over many years the beluga's on the other side of the glacier turn a darker blue to having to eat the dark blue fish all the other time that are rarely found where the white beluga's are.
  • I think eating too many dark blue fish is starting to affect our appearance...
  • I wonder if our ancestors were able to get across this huge glacier.
  • Due to the centuries of separation, the dark blue beluga's formed into their own species. now after global warming that caused the melting of the glacier and changing winds that ceased the currents, the two different species can see each other again after many years.
  • Why do you guys eat that nasty dark blue fish?
  • Why do you look so familiar...?
