  • Upset with how he was being treated with Goneril, Lear wishes her ill and disowns her as well. All whilst the fool is making fun of him about his bad decisions with his kingdom. Lear decides to go stay with Regan in hopes she will treat him better.
  • How dare my own daughter treat me this way! I hope you never have children or they grow up to be brutal! I will go stay with your kind sister!
  • Maybe because you gave them all your land and fortunes. You're the fool!
  • You're acting like a child.

  • After leaving Goneril's company, Lear sends Kent, who is in disguise, to send a letter to Regan announcing he is coming to stay with her. Along the way, the fool continues to remind Lear of his mistakes.
  • Thou shouldst not have been old till thou hadst been wise.
  • Why is this happening? Noble sir take this letter to Regan
  • Edmund, Gloucester's illegitimate son, devises a plan to make his father turn on his brother, the legitimate son. This is because only the legitimate son is entitled to his fortunes. So Edmund writes a letter stating that Edgar, the legitimate son is going to kill their father. In writing this letter he hopes he will get his hands on his father's fortunes.
