  • The Stomach
  • This hotdog doesn't taste good
  • Small Intestine
  • The Mouth
  • In the mouth mechanical digestion and chemical digestion occurs. Mechanical digestion is when the teeth breaks down the and chemical digestion is when the saliva breaks the food down
  • The Esophagus
  • The esophagus contracts to allow food and liquids to travel down to the stomach this process is called peristalsis
  • after passing through the sphincter this is the start of the majority of digestion begins. The muscles contract and relax churning up the boluses further breaking it down, while this is happening the stomach acid breaks down the other parts of the food through chemical digestion.
  • This is salmonella or as its common name food poisoning. Salmonella typically lives in a humans or other animals intestines. Salmonella is shed from the lining of the small intestine by stool
  • After passing through the stomach the boluses enters the small intestine where it absorbs proteins, sugars, vitamins and other minerals and the waste is turned into stool
  • after passing through the small intestine any left over proteins, sugars, vitamins and other minerals are absorbed and the left over waste goes to the rectum where it is held until it exits through the anus. However because of the salmonella infection this gives the host diarrhoea(excessive stool exiting the anus)
