Why are fossil fuels bad?

- Hi I'm Nicki! Today I am going to be telling you about why fossil fuels are bad.
- As you can see this car runs on gasoline for energy. Gasoline is a fossil fuel it burns and creates energy that also has a high CO2 content.
- If we continue to use these fuels without care it will ruin our health and more people will develop diseases like asthma
- Oh no! Look the animals have to leave their homes!
- Fossil fuels are oils, coal, gasoline things we use to create energy although these things are high in carbon. The issue with this is that today we have been using way too much fossil fuels which pollutes the air with too much carbon that is also warming our atmosphere which is bad for our planet because things that were frozen before could now be melting and animals losing their homes.
- Well guess what! You can start helping those animals who are loosing their homes right from yours!
- Burning oil, coal and natural gasses creates climate change which releases pollutants that can cause humans to develop early deaths, heart attacks, respiratory disorders, stroke, and asthma. When we burn fossil fuels the chemicals in this contain benzene which can cause blood disorders and formaldehyde which is known to cause cancer.
- We must take action together to help save our planet!
- Digging up and destroying mountain tops and land to extract coal from under the ground is necessary to obtain this fossil fuel. But this is not good for our environment nor the animals. Doing this destroys the animals natural habitats which can result in them dying or going extinct.
- Take short showers instead of baths and avoid leaving faucets on for an unnecessary amount of time. Turn things off when you are not currently using them.Hand dry clothes instead of putting them in the dryer
- Coal mining operations will also dump their waste into streams and other bodies of water, the toxic chemicals in the waste contaminates the water that also have been found that these toxic chemicals can cause cancer, birth defects and neurological damage.
