  • In chapter 2 of Hatchet, Brian realizes that there is nothing he can do for the pilot, as he doesn't know CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He tries to rack his brain for any ideas on how to fly the plane. He realizes that he cannot fly it, so he uses the radio to ask for help.

  • As the plane gets closer to the ground, Brian loses sight of the lakes that he had seen the entire trip. His plan was to land the plane on the shore of a lake, so he desperately needed one. All he saw at this point was trees.
