- In april 1792 King Louis XVI and the National Assembly decided to declare war on Austria in attempt to steal some wealth and to spread the idea of revolution across Europe through warfare. Prussia and Austria formed an alliance which the King encouraged. The assembly voted to suspend the monarchy and have new elections where everyone could vote.
- Reign of Terror and Committee of Public Safety
- The Paris Commune was a government group that governed Paris for some time during the French Revolution. The commune was an anti religous, progressive system of social democracy. 
- Maximilien Robespierre
- The guillotine is the answer to our problems!
- The new government decided to have a trial for King Louis XVI where he was found guilty of high treason and crimes against the state. He was voted to be executed by the guillotine. 9 months later his wife Queen Marie Antoinette was also executed for crimes against the state.
- Napoleon Bonaparte
- After the king was executed, France was at war with many European powers which led to the most violent phase of the French Revolution. The Committee of Public Safety which was a group led by Robespierre seized control of the National Convention and executed thousands of suspected enemies of the french.

- Maximilien Robespierre was the leader of the Jacobins radical group and the president of the National Convention and the Committee of Public Safety.  He played a big role in the Reign of Terror becasue he encouraged execution and was responsible for more than 17,000 deaths by guillotine. Maximilien Robespierre was also executed by the guillotine on July 27 1794.
- Napoleon Bonaparte was a French general and political leader. He led many France to many successes during the French Revolution. Napoleon Bonaparte was Frances first consl and came to power through his military lead. He brought the end of the French Revolution, and the beggining of the Napoleonic era and changed Frances government back into an absolute monarchy.
