- Percy confronts Hades about the lightning bolt
- You dare lie to me, after you stole my helm of darkness?
- Please return Zeus's master bolt to prevent war.
- Percy has to choose who to save with the pearls
- Come on! Let's use the pearls. It's okay, I'll come back for my mom another time.
- You don't have the lightning bolt? Open your backpack.
- What? How did this get here?
- Ah the pearls. Well, you only have three, so you will have to leave someone behind.
- I know why you are here. For your mom.
- Percy, Annabeth, and Grover escape from the Underworld using the pearls
- Percy asks Hades to return the lightning bolt and is told that the last thing Hades wants is war and not only does he not have the lightning bolt, his helm of darkness was stolen.
- To his astonishment, Percy discovers the lightning bolt in the backpack Ares gave him. Hades has been holding Percy's mom hostage and Percy only has three pearls to save them. He has to choose who he will leave behind and he decides to escape with his friends.
- As soon as the pearls smash against the ground, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover are encased in bubbles and brought up to the surface of Santa Monica beach.
