- Digory found Polly in the Wood between the Worlds and they wanted to explore. They fell into another world and found a ruined castle. In the castle, Polly and Digory found a long row of chairs filled with people. There was a bell with a hammer and a riddle. Digory rang the bell and the last person in the row stood up.
- We've come from another world; by Magic.
- I think it must have been me.
- Who has awakened me? Who has broken the spell?
- After Digory broke the spell on Jadis, she followed them to the real world. During a fight with Uncle Andrew, everyone got teleported to a new world when Polly touched her magic ring. This new world was just being created by a huge Lion. The lion created everything from the sunlight to the flowers and didn't notice the group.
- This is a terrible world.
- And who would?
- I quite agree with you, Madam. A most disagreeable place. Completely uncivilized. If only I were a younger man and had a gun-
- Garn! You don't think you could shoot 'im, do you?
- Come in by the gold gates or not at all, Take of my fruit for others or forebear, For those who steal or those who climb my wall shall find their heart's desire and find despair.
- The lion sent Digory and Polly to retrieve a silver apple. They needed the magical apple to use against Jadis to keep her away from the mainland of Narnia.
- Take of my fruit for others. Well, that's what I'm going to do. It means I mustn't eat any myself, I suppose.
