  • Hi my name is General Dwight Eisenhower ! and I helped plan the Normandy Landings alongside George C. Marshall.

  • The Casualties Caused By The Invasions
  • General Dwight Eisenhower was one of the main leaders that constructed the plans of the Normandy Landings. Along side Eisenhower George C. Marshall contributed his knowledge to Eisenhower to help plan the invasion of Europe. There hopes for their plans was to take back Europe from the Nazi occupation.
  • The Significance of the Battle

  • On June 6th 1944 The Normandy landing took place and they were declared the largest scale amphibious landing ever made in the history of warfare, air sea and land.

  • Over 150,000 allied soldiers died during the raids. These were people in all the military branches, Airforce, Army, and the Navy.

  • This battle was always viewed as one of the largest turning points in the war, it had a huge impact on the battles that came after and even the outcome of the war. At the time it was very important that they won so that they would have a "hand" in Nazi occupied France.
  • After a long hard fought battle and all of the sacrifices made, the allies successfully invaded the beaches of Normandy. This victory would lead them to a gateway of many more hard fought victories, it would also win them the war.
  • "Operation Overlord" was one of the most important missions ever to take place in the second world war. So important that this mission had to be executed flawlessly to hopefully gain traction to turn the war around in the allies favor. They wouldn't even risk a bad notion of weather incase that would interfere with their plans. The battle meant to much to the world if it had been lost the outcome would have been horrific.
