Storyboard Text

  • The leaf shrivels up, blackens and begins to disintegrate
  • The friends scramble through the flowers to warn the others
  • Panicked facial expression of one of their friends after Tarryn warns them
  • As the spray hits the leaf, it instantly shrivels up, blackens and disintegrates, making the characters realise that the spray is poisonous. This shot is a zoom shot that progresses into an extreme close up to show the exact moment the spray hits the leaf. All of the instruments stop playing in the music except the violins, which hold, a long, shaky note. This builds tension and will make the audience more startled when all of the other instruments rejoin the music and it gets fast again. The lighting is low-key to create an ominous atmosphere and the grass looks dark and moist.
  • The friends scramble out of the flower field
  • A tracking shot shows the characters running through the forest as the flowers shake, fearful that the flowers will poison them, too. This shot crates the effect of making it seem like there is an endless expanse for them to run through and creates a dizzying effect as it matches the speed that the characters run at. The lighting is dark and shadowy as the sky has darkened in the time they’ve been out. The music is fast paced, frantic and bold, with deafening drumbeats. The lighting now makes their costumes look less flamboyant and bright and their clothes look more ragged and dirt-strewn.
  • They’re out of the meadow and slump against each other in relief, panting and breathless.
  • Tarryn and her friend reached the others and we see a close-up shot that reveals the panic in one of their friend’s face. We hear Tarryn yelling that the flowers are poisonous and hear other voices saying panicked things such as, “come on” and “let’s go”. The music is still fast paced and rampant and the drumbeats and violins are loud and tense. The lighting is dark and rapidly flickering and the colours of the flowers petals are bright and blinding, making everything else, the sky and stems and grass, look dark and gloomy.
  • The friends go back through the forest, heading home.
  • This is a POV shot of the characters scrambling out of the field of flowers. It is in slow motion to show how useless and impatient they feel and the sounds are all low-pitched and indistinct. We hear thunder striking and raindrops as the weather starts to rampage, and the sound of movement and leaves brushing against each other as the flowers shake. Other than that there's just the heavy sound of frantic breathing, slow and drawn-out by the slow motion and low pitch effects. The lighting is low-key, bleak and dreary to represent this desperate moment. Again, the only bright colour is the poisonous flowers.
  • A long shot shows their relieved facial expressions while also showing their tired and relieved body language as they lean against each other and sit on the ground. The lighting is brighter but still slightly dim to show they’ve escaped the immediate danger but they should still be careful until they’re safe at home. The rain has slowed to a drizzle and the colours of the forest look softer and gentler. The music calms down and becomes less frantic, pressing and fast paced. We hear relieved laughter and distant bird chirping that signals a new positive normality is on its way.
  • A long shot shows all of the characters safe and heading away from the danger while also showing the setting and how it looks safer and brighter now that they’re away from danger. The lighting is now high key and bright. The colours of the leaves, grass and shrubs in the forest are bright and glistening prettily with rainwater. The music is soft, upbeat and cheerful and we hear birds chirping loudly, signalling a new positive normality. We hear the characters faintly talking and laughing but not as loudly as they had at the start of the film, indicating they’re still a bit shaken and they may be less carefree in the future.
