- Pineda
- Cabeza de Vaca
- There are 3 reasons for exploration which is the 3 g's. The three g's are God, gold, and glory. God is for spreading religion, for instance, building missions is for spreading religion to Native Americans. Gold is like finding riches, (gold and silver). Lastly, glory is fame.
- Coronado
- Pineda was the first European to explore and map the Texas coast. (Gulf of Mexico) Pineda did not get to finish his mission because some of his men were arested by Hernan Cortez.
- La Salle
- Cabeza de Vaca was shipwrecked on galveston island . The karankawas provided food and shelter for him and his men. Cabeza de Vaca and 3 other men had arrived in Mexico city. They told stories of Cibola, the fabled city of gold.
- Coronado was the first European to discover Palo Duro canyon, Grand canyon, and the pacific ocean. He was a failure to spanish because he didn't find any riches.
- La Salle was a famous french explorer. He arrived in texas at Matagorda Bay on a ship called "The Belle". When he had went to Mexico to get suppplies, the fort was attacked by indians. They killed over 300 men. When the rest of the men left to go to French canada, La Salle's own men killed him on the way.
