- Is there a war going on out here?
- Ralph is hiding in the forest near castle rock, while hiding he finds the “ lord of the flies” and knocks the pig's head off the stick to use it as a weapon. He contemplates joining the others and while walking the re he finds Sam and Eric now being bodyguards. They tell him he needs to run and hide because the boys are trying to hunt him. He tells them he's going to hide in the thicket, and they give him a piece of meat before he leaves.
- As he leaves to hide he hears one of the twins being beaten. The next day he hears Jack torturing Sam and Eric and they reveal that he's hiding in the thicket. Hearing this he makes his escape as the hunters set fire to the mountain to try and smoke him out. Most of the forest is on fire as Jack's tribe chases after him. He ends up fainting and when he wakes up a Navy Officer is there due to him seeing the smoke. He asks if there's a war out here or something and the boys cry out in loss of innocence.
