- This is Dick Arsenault. He is the main character in the story. He is a hunter, an experienced woodsman, and the former president of the Maine Antler and Skull Club.
- Main event
- Once Arsenault realized it was getting dark and he needed to go back he had deep within the woods and was a bit lost. He tried making a fire to keep warm but the fire wouldn't work it was mostly smoke.
- Resolution/ Rescue
- Arsenault tried to get to his truck fast before the night came and before he died from the cold. So he thought it would be a good idea to cross a frozen bog for a shortcut but the bog ended up breaking and him falling through into the water.
- Lesson/Analysis
- Arsenault got a bit lost so to find his way around he tried using his senses and knowledge. For example, he knew which way the airplanes came from and tried following the sound to find a road.
- In the story, it had stated that by the time they started looking for Arsenault and found him, he was already in his truck safe and sound. He had beaten them to his rescue.
- One thing they learned is that you should never go out hunting on your own especially if you don't know the area but if you do just make sure to be careful and use your senses.
