  • My next steps to transition from draft to narrative are to fix the problems I addressed in the "O" part of "GROW." I should make the conclusion (the part with the theme) longer, because I think it ended too abruptly. I also received the most feedback about developing the theme along even further, so I should focus on that the most.

  • 1. First, I thought about what I could teach readers in my writing. It had to be something they connected to. For example, I wrote about sledding and getting hit down multiple times. Anybody could have been hit down multiple times in their lives, so I generalized my theme to be applicable to everyone. 2. Then I described it in further by saying "the old, when life brings you down, get back up", which hopefully sounded more "human" and developed the theme to be more understandable. 3. This shows the development in the narrative's success criteria by pointing to specific places in the story. It also shows meaning, because I am explaining what I wrote honestly.
  • When I came up with my central theme, I think I did a good job with explaining it and why it worked in my writing piece.

  • There are some things about my theme that I can develop further to improve. I can use foreshadowing and other techniques in the beginning of my narrative to tie to back to the end. For example, in my first paragraph, I can hint to a theme by saying something along the lines of "little did I know that this day would teach me valuable lessons about never giving up." That would interest the readers more, and they might remember the theme more. Another thing I can do is make the theme more precise or specific. It has to be a little bit more clear, so people really get what I'm trying to say (that also fits into the success criteria for meaning, because I'm really thinking about what to change and what needs work.)
