- Giles Corey accidentally got his wife locked up. He had to redeem himself in some way. The way Giles Corey redeemed himself was by taking the punishment that he was given and not confessing. If he confessed his family would lose their land. When he was getting pressed he was asked if he was going to confess and instead of confessing he response was "More Weight". That led to his family keeping their lands and he was redeemed seconds before his death.

- Reverend Paris was a character that cared about his name and his reputation above everything. He felt that keeping a good name was everything. He would try to protect his name no matter what.
- When Tituba was being confronted for being a witch she told Reverend Paris that the Devil told her to kill him many times But Tituba refused to kill him even though she had been tempted to kill him.
