  • The Cuban Missile Crisis
  • CIA Analysts spotted launchers, missiles and transport trucks that show the Soviets are launching missiles to the U.S. President Kennedy woke up on this with members of Ex-Comm to find a way to respond to the threat. He decides to reject the attack and buy time.
  • This all started when u sent missiles in secret to Cuba
  • Alarmed with the news, Kennedy contacts the Soviet leader about the missiles and blames him for sending in more, and demands him to remove the missiles.
  • They are only for defense
  • Khrushchev responds to Kennedy, and said the missiles will not be removed and they are solely intended for defensive purposes
  • The soviet freighters turn back towards Europe but the oil tanker Bucharest enters the quarantine zone, heading straight for Cuba. The USS Essex and the USS Gearing were ready to stop it, which could have sparked war but Kennedy decides to let it pass as it does not carry any contraband.
  • The U.S ships moved into place in the surrounding waters of Cuba. Soviet Freighters holding military supplies that were heading towards there stopped in their tracks.
  • After long talks and many mistakes were made. Khrushchev issued a public statement that Soviet missiles would be dismantled and removed from Cuba
