- All my life my family has barely celebrated any holidays here and this year we finally did. My dad even hosted a party because he wanted us to understand what we are all about.
- We did the rituals that we would normally do and she told us why we do this and what it means to us.
- At night we lit diyas like we would in India.
- My grandma told us to be thankful for everything that we have.
- The morning of diwali my dad and I went to Champaign to pick up the speaker system and since I hadn't eaten breakfast my dad bought me panera.
- We were decorating the place we rented for the diwali party. The women were making the dinner. After everything was done, we headed home to change and get into our clothes.
- We started the party off with an aarti then we played games, had dinner, the kids then gave an explanation on diwali, then the adults did, we did fireworks, garba, and then ended the night with an ending aarti.
- We cleaned everything up and packed it up and into the cars. WHen we went home we went straight to bed because of how tired we were but only after we said happy new year to everyone. In the morning we had to empty out all of the cars.
