Tom has just been woken up a bird that is on a counter that has snuck in through the window. Jerry has left town to meet family so Tom is man of the house and he feels its his duty to keep other animals out, Tom and the bird are around 8 feet apart. Tom is also looking at an angle of 36 degrees. He is getting restless and wants to sleep. He wants to find out how high the bird is so he will be able to jump high enough and pounce . Using trig he does tan(36) X 8= 5.8 Ft and knows that he has to jump 5.8 ft high in order to get to the bird.

36°
With no outside annoyances Tom can sleep and rest.
Tom wants to be a little mischievous and wants to play a prank on Spike but in order to do that he has to find how far away from spike he is. He knows that Spike cannot leave fully as he is stuck to a chain that is 6 ft and spike is 10 ft higher. He finds out the distance is more than the chain lengths he knows he can do the prank he notices that hes looking an an angle of 48 degrees. Again using the skills he learned in Cat school which here he using again trig doing 10/Tan(48) = 9 ft. Now that Tom knows that the distance between him and Spike is over 6 ft he can now do his prank. As the distance is 9 ft
