  • Let's get 'em.
  • Carthage has broken our agreement.
  • One final attack!
  • Carthage has been playing with us for too long but we've got them this time.
  • To a new era, "ROMAN CARTHAGE"
  • After the second Punic War, Rome and Carthage had a peace treaty with each other. The treaty didn’t allow Carthage to wage a war on Rome or anyone else without Rome’s permission. Carthage broke this agreement in 149 B.C. when they started a fight with the Numidians. Because of this, the Romans decided this was the perfect opportunity to take Carthage out for good.
  • Thanks to the consul Scipio, Rome became stronger and stronger until they committed one grand final attack on Carthage, targeting them by sea where they were the weakest. Carthage held off Rome for a solid 3 years until they were eventually squashed in 146 B.C.
  • After its defeat, Carthage became known as “Roman Carthage” under Rome’s ownership. The third war’s death count was 17,000 for the Roman army and 62,000 for Carthage citizens with the rest of their people (50,000) being sold into slavery. Later, Julius Caesar would rebuild Carthage into one of the greatest cities of the Roman empire.
