The narrator introduces the two characters and sets the tone and mood. The husband wants to murder his wife on a hot day playing Scrabble. He hates her because he thinks that she ties him down.
The game starts with Begin and then Jinx, which made the whole game reversed. The husband does not know this and is just focused on trying to kill his wife.
As they are playing, the husband recalls his cousin dying because he choked on a bee. This is foreshadowing to his upcoming death. Again, he is still oblivious to the game and plays Zaps which made his wife get shocked.
The husband plays Cheating and the wife figures him out. After he plays explodes, he realizes the game is off. He thinks the game is playing to his favor and plays Fly, only to discover an insect.
The wife plays Caution, warning him about the game. The husband does not see this and continues to try and to kill the wife. He then finds the word Quake.
The quake does not go the way he thinks it does and the wife plays Death. The husband gets a B lodged in his throat and ends up dying, with the wife watching him.
