After meeting with his raven, Ares teleported to the bushwillow where Paineria sat. He tried to convince Paineria to let him take her away from her home, but she abstained, letting her pride and stubbornness cloud her eyes.
Absolutely not! I would rather stay than risk being misled by a god. I will stay and make my parents proud, and you will not stop me.
Why do you stay with this life? Come with me, I'll improve this treacherous life.
After Paineria insulted Ares, she turned on her heel back to her house. However, Ares had quietly vanished and caused giant, spiky stone structures out of the ground, trapping her. She refused to grovel for mercy to Ares, so she stayed there, until dying of old age.
Ares did this.... he is angry that I'm right. I refuse to go along with him!
Long after Paineria's death, the greenery scenery regrew. While Ares slept, the goddess of love, Aphrodite, visited the forest of knives. She felt no jealousy that Ares fell in love with Paineria, but pity. She carefully planted a seed, and a bushwillow immediately developed.
