  • Well, the pressure to conform can be powerful and hard to resist. A person might feel pressure to do something just because others are doing it. They don't feel like saying "no".
  • Why doesn't she say "no" to him? She clearly doesn't want any booze!

  • You're welcome. Remember, if there’s someone else in the group who you think might feel the same as you, or a friend in the group who you trust, try talking to them about it and ask how they feel about it.
  • Hey, thank you for getting me out of there. I was scared and I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if I should tell someone. All my friends influence me to do those things.
  • Instead, try finding peers that set plenty of good examples for each other. Having peers who are committed to doing well in school or to doing their best in a sport can influence you to be more goal-oriented, too. Peers who are kind and loyal influence you to build these qualities in yourself. Even peers you've never met can be role models!

  • Well, adolescents spend an increasing amount of time with their peers, leading them to do things they probably shouldn't do.
  • Wow dad! I'm glad you saved mom. Why does peer pressure happen a lot? Especially during teen years, like with what happened with you guys.
  • Also, adolescent risk-taking propensity derives in part from a maturational gap between early adolescent remodeling of the brain's socio-emotional reward system and a gradual, prolonged strengthening of the cognitive control system.
