  • This will have to do.
  • I'm going to get us some food.
  • It's so hot out here, but this water is probably radioactive...
  • January 24, 2150Humans begin to live underground.
  • January 24, 2150
  • January 24, 2150Due to the radiation in the atmosphere, the average temperature on Earth has increased and the climate has changed. The winter season no longer exists and it is dangerous for humans to drink from natural water sources.
  • Humans also developed a liver and kidney that allowed them to drink contaminated/radioactive water (physical adaptation 2).
  • April 30, 2175The human population continues to reproduce. Living underground has become a part of most humans' lives (behavioral adaptation). Many who stayed above the ground died due to extreme radiation levels and did not produce offspring. The above-ground human population is almost extinct.
  • March 13, 2650After 500 years, humans have reached a size approximately half to what they were.
  • Less access to food/water made humans have to adapt survive with fewer resources. As the human population continued to reproduce, each generation got shorter and shorter because a smaller body requires less energy (physical adaptation 1). Typically, smaller organisms require lots of energy to maintain their body heat, which they lose very fast. However, since the climate and temperature of the Earth has gotten warmer, there is not much of a need for that.
  • March 13, 2650The two organs have the job filter harmful substances from humans' blood and body system from ingested liquids, which they still do, but can now filter more types of fluids. Drinking a lot of contaminated water is still harmful, but the evolved and small human body does not need as much water to survive.
