  • Introduction of COVID-19 and COVID-19 variants
  • COVID-19 is not a new concept in this day and age, but let me explain it shortly. The virus linked to the epidemic in Wuhan, China, has been named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. (SARS-CoV-2). However, have you heard anything regarding COVID-19 variants? Surprisingly, we know little nothing about the variations other than their names and kinds, which are Alpha, Beta, and Omicron.
  • First Variant, Alpha
  • Let's start with Alpha, the initial version. The first well publicised variety was Alpha. It made its debut in the United Kingdom in November 2020. Because of the spike protein in Alpha, which was considered to make it more infectious, the Alpha lineage was anticipated to be 30 to 50% more contagious than the initial SARS-CoV-2 strain. According to studies, the Alpha lineage was more likely to send sick persons to the hospital and was more lethal than the original virus.
  • Second Variant, Beta
  • Beta is the next variation. Beta was discovered in South Africa around the end of 2020 and has since spread to other countries. This variation was around half as infectious as the original coronavirus strain. Beta is more easily transmitted, and certain immunizations may be less effective against it. This alarms residents, and specialists are concerned about its many mutations and ability to resist antibodies.
  • Third Variant, Omicron
  • Omicron is the last version. There is a lot to learn about Omicron and the different Omicron subvariants that have developed. Omicron was identified in late November 2021 in South Africa and Botswana, and instances quickly spread and proliferated in other countries. By December 2021, the number of daily instances caused by Omicron had risen to nearly a million. Early research indicates that it spreads more easily. One theory was that the virus's spike protein, which attaches to human cells, had over 30 changes, many of which are known to improve the chance of infection.
  • COVID-19 symptoms
  • Now that we are well informed about the well-known variants, let’s talk about COVID-19 symptoms. The most common and quite scary due to how normal these symptoms are fever, cough, tiredness, and loss of taste or smell. The less common symptoms are sore throat, headache, a rash on the skin or discolouration of fingers or toes. Lastly, the serious symptoms that need to take quick actions are difficulty breathing or shortness of breath loss of speech or mobility, confusion and chest pain. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms please do some sort of action to confirm if you are affected or not. Stay alert.
  • Overcoming COVID-19
  • The final subject we'll discuss is how to overcome the COVID-19 after being impacted. To begin, contact your health care practitioner or the COVID-19 helpline to find out where and when you may obtain a test. Next, keep a 1-meter distance between yourself and everyone else, even your family. If you need to seek medical treatment, use a medical mask to protect others. Aside from that, constantly wash your hands, keep the area well aired, and keep a watch out for any indicators for 14 days. Finally, have a positive attitude by exercising at home and remaining in touch with family and friends by phone or internet.
