  • While you are not required to vote, voting is a very important civic duty. Your vote always counts, and it makes sure the government works how the people want them to work.

  • Taxes are very important. It helps our country provide the services that a lot of people use everyday.

  • Paying your taxes is a responsibility. Evading taxes is a federal crime, and not recommended. Taxes help pay for all public benefits. You are taxed based on your income, your properties, and things you buy.

  • You must be an able-bodied, adult US citizen with no felonies to serve in a jury. If you are summoned for a jury, it does not mean you will see the court. But it is still a responsibility you must
  • Serving in a jury protects the right of every American to be trialed by jury.

  • All male citizens must register for selective service once they turn 18. Also, all male non-citizens(apart from international students and diplomats) must also register. This does not mean you are joining the army, but are enlisting in the military draft in the event of a crisis

  • You can help your community by becoming a public service worker. These people work to better society, serve and protect. These include jobs in education, government jobs, emergency workers, waste management, and many more.

  • It is very important to be informed of politics going on around you. Whether its local or national, you should always read. It is also important to not judge the ideas of another. Whether a personal issue or not, everyone has the right to speak their mind, even if you don't agree.
